Whether hand roasted, drum roasted, locally sourced or cafe brewed - the key to Limpopo artisan coffee making is unlocking the flavour and personality of each bean. Artisan coffee makers in Limpopo have one thing in common: producing high quality coffee in every brew for a range of coffee types.
Crown Coffee is interestingly located in the beautiful hills of Limpopo’s Tzaneen – at an altitude level of above 1000 metres it is the only coffee estate in South Africa which produces specialty coffee at this level. The Coffee Estate was started by two brothers-in-law in 2003. Gad Ben-Avi and Peter Nel found coffee plants growing in the forest on the estate and the two men decided to use this as the starting point for their coffee plantations. Once the plantation was established the two men embarked on partnering with the roasters and the baristas – ensuring that only the best Arabica coffee can be produced from the Crown Coffee Estate.
